Need Some Help Determining Plane Type
Posted by: lilrichard2 - 11-23-2015, 08:44 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (3)

Hmm,...the frog has a fully machined face,...right? Any adjustment knob on the frog? I'm assuming it doesn't. And no Patent date or raised ring at the knob........hmmmmm

Low knob,...but the tote doesn't have that have that "hump" that super early totes like the one on that Round sided Bedrock I flipped several years ago.

According to the Stanley Bench Plane Dating flow chart it looks like a Type 8-9 (Planes made by Stanley 1899-1907)

  DVR Drill Press beta test!
Posted by: handi - 11-23-2015, 06:24 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (11)

That is a pretty nice drill press. Mine is about on its last leg. Any idea when it will hit the market? I have a Nova DVR lathe and love it.

I'm surprised they let you post pictures of it. I beta test tools for Black and Decker and a few other makers and I am always sworn to secrecy about them until they hit the market.

I lucked out big time today

My experience lately is the exact opposite. Tossed and repaired a couple units with leaking Duracells. Best plan I suppose is pull the batteries out if anything you don't use regularly.

You blow it. You are blowing into the wrong end. Blow into the end that has the unsupported side of the reed(s).

Most of that info is in the install manuals. Those are often available online as well. Pick one, check that manual and I can try and answer any more specific questions.

  Code for water heater access?
Posted by: KC - 11-23-2015, 03:01 PM - Forum: Home Improvement - Replies (1)

Your code may be different. I have to leave 2' in front for servicing. You also need a combustion air supply for a gas heater in an enclosed space.

  Secret Santa Shipping Etiquette
Posted by: tirebob - 11-23-2015, 02:18 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (2)

My SS present year before last came from across the pond. It got opened for inspection several times along the way, but arrived safely. If there were any duties involved, my Santa handled it in such a way that I never knew that they existed. You make me even more grateful to that very generous Santa.

I have not had an out-of-country recipient yet, so these fees never really occurred to me. My thanks for pointing this out. It is very much appreciated for the future.
