Router bits - Clint867 - 07-13-2017

I am wanting to get into making signs and things with router. I need help with what bits you use for this type of stuff? Thanks!

Welcome to WoodNet.

I have no sign experience but if I wanted to start... Rockler and Woodcraft both carry kits.  Check out what they offer and then hit Amazon.

Good luck and have fun.

What material are you going to use will determine the bits you need

This set

These letters

And these bits Allowed me to make state park type of signs, and it was so easy the Geico Caveman could have done it. Now for script, and free hand, you could use the bits. Guiding the router is going to be up to you. If I'm not mistaken, you may be making the leap into CNC work.

It really does depend on the type of sign and material.

Here is a link to my sign making section and these are all popular bits.

My GF owns a sign shop and rarely are they wood.  They do a lot of aluminum, plastics and acrylic, just a matter of what you consider a sign.  I visited another sign shop running a CNC and he needed to cut some plywood for a friend, had no idea what bit to use for wood, they don't cut any.
