Sad to see a good machine do down like that. At least you faced it toward the wall so it won't have to look at its replacement.

Moving a drill press doesn't rank real high on the fun meter.
Just replaced a 20" Grizzly with a 17" Delta, 1946 vintage. It's a sweet upgrade.

I spent the better part of an afternoon moving an old camel-back drill press I've had for over 30 years ago that recently tried to migrate from low-speed drive to high-speed drive mode as I was using it, resulting in its removing some teeth from two of the gears required for low-speed (50 rpm!) mode. I checked with multiple companies in the metro area that do gear repair or replacement, estimates for repair or making new gears were in the range of about $2,000. I'd tried operating the drill press in high-speed mode, where the damaged gears would not be involved, and even so there was a noticeable "thump thump thump" coming from the drill press running with no load. So yesterday the project was to move it out of the location it's been in since I got it, making room for a newer drill press that unfortunately won't be a full replacement but at least it can use my collection of MT 3 drill bits. Moving the old one probably would have gone faster if I'd had someone to help with the move, the thing is really heavy.

Did you check over at OWWM?

Yes, it's posted there, free if "buyer"  provides help moving it out of the garage, $200 if I have to get help moving it to where buyer's delivery service can pick it up, have received no response.

Thought I'd practice some of my lathe skills by working on a snowman.  Lots of room for improvement but was fun.  Will probably let one of the Granddaughters paint it.

I'm building a trestle table base for a massive marble top.  Gluing up the foot blanks here.

Not sure what you are using the table for.  Marble is soft and stains easily.

It's a commissioned piece.  Customer has counters that are marble and had a 105x55 top cut from the same material.   Apparently it's been leaning against the wall for three years and the missus got tired of waiting on her husband to build one.

Money talks!
