Spray Booth Design - Danny in Houston - 05-05-2018

I have a large shop (1,800 sq ft) and I'm in the early design stage of installing a spray booth.  I have a friend who's a real pro finisher, and he was telling me he would prefer the air flow to be upward to lift particles up away from wood surfaces as opposed to the typical spray booth exhaust wall where air is flowing horizontally across the surface being finished.

He also said he would prefer an inlet air filter system to keep particles from entering the booth.

Any thoughts on this?

Any other ideas also appreciated.

Filtered inlet air would be good on a sealed room, otherwise not of much value. Horizontal air flow is how commercial booths are designed and I think for good reason. It doesn't pull dust up off the floor and it moves over spray away from the spray zone.
