guide bushing for 2in opening - mr_skittle - 04-25-2022

I've got a Bosch plunge router (MRP23EVS) that I want to use with a guide bushing. The problem is that the baseplate has a 2in opening and none of my bushings fit. They're all about 1.25in (approx). I'm wondering if there is an adapter or an alternative baseplate for the router. Maybe there's even a set of bushings that fit the big hole, but it doesn't have the stepped opening that the collar/nut of the bushing typically nests into? Bosch does have a couple of products that seem to adapt to the 2 inch hole but I've not found any examples of how they work. I've got a million things on my plate these days so it could very well be that I'm missing something fairly obvious.

For whatever reason Bosch juts doesn't like the standard PC type bushings. The kit they offer has an "adapter" that snaps into place in the 2" hole you mentioned, then their bushings snap into the adapter. Check this video for how it works....forward to about the 9 minute mark.

The screw type bushing was a "standard" from the Porter-Cable line. I rather like the Bosch method, and have a few sets of the bushings. As some negative reviews note, the snouts may be too long for some applications...true, but they are easily ground shorter. (would be much tougher to make them longer!!) I've kept one full set at factory lenght, and the other set has mostly been shortened to some degree.
At first i wasn't confident in the Bosch twist-lock attachment--but i've never had that fail for me. On the other hand, i have had a few PC style screw bushings come loose since i didn't get my fingers into the little opening with enough strength to tighten the knurled nut that holds it in place. If the PC system was what i grew up with--i'd probably be more patient with it. The Bosch is probably a flawed system too--but i'm used to it now!!

Thanks so much for the link. The video really cleared up how the adapter works because none of the pictures really indicated how it works. I was trying to decide if I should get the whole set or just the adapters I need. Then I saw a package deal with the bushing set, adapter, centering cone, and their edge guide all for $70 so I splurged on the deal.
