It is deep. But you'll have 3-1/2 studs, 1/2 drywall and 3/4" plank = 4-3/4"
The octagonal box with the extension is 3" deep. That will still leave 1-3/4" between the box and the the back of the wall and you'll have a strong mount for the lamp flush with the finished wall. That particular box I linked with the extended mount will also do the trick but you might have some interference with your romex and sheetrock combined with the wood plan.
This box and the extension would work better and you wouldn't have the interference problem.
