  Small Boxes
Posted by: TheCabinetmaker - Yesterday, 05:29 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (2)

I made the Cherry box a week ago to store some detail chisels, from Lee Valley. The 2 Walnut boxes 5 or so years ago. The walnut ones are the same size LxW but with different heights. They all have small runners on the bottom to interlock with same-size boxes. They were mostly made with hand tools (dovetails, cutting the groves, and beveling the top). They were finished with BLO and Minwax Antique oil.

  Walnut or Elm?
Posted by: lincmercguy - Yesterday, 02:40 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (5)

I thought this is an elm tree, I didn't pay too much attention to the leaves last year and I didn't think there were walnut trees here. But this seems awfully dark for elm.

  Handsaw for Smaller Splits
Posted by: titanxt - Yesterday, 01:37 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - No Replies

Hello!

I have a bit of an unconventional saw question, considering this is for burning wood and not making something out of it. But, there is a lot or great hand tool knowledge here. I am wanting to cut smaller splits (2" - 3" in diameter) from 12" - 14" long to around 8" for an offset smoker. Any suggestions on what will work well and allow me to hold the split on a stump while cutting?  Thank you!

  Selling most of my tools
Posted by: JoePerri - Yesterday, 10:27 AM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - Replies (2)

Hi All,

I haven't really done much woodworking in the last 10 years since the kids were born and I started traveling for work all the time. It seems like these tools should go to people who would use them instead of slowly rusting in my garage. See links below to the Craigslist ads. All in Mission Viejo CA.

Grizzly Cabinet Table Saw - $300 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...05723.html A guy is coming at noon today to look at it, if he doesn't take it I'll update the post.

Delta Hollow Chisel Mortiser - $180 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...06877.html

Makita 3901 Biscuit Joiner - $80 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...07782.html

Craftsman Circular Saw - $40 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...08515.html

Ryobi Drill - $40 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...08951.html

Grizzly Oscillating Spindle Sander - $50 https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/...09556.html

Also have a Jet 6in deluxe jointer that I need to take pics of, excellent condition $500, a bunch of jigs, an unused Triton 2 1/4 HP plunge router $100 and some other miscellaneous stuff.

Email me direct at joemage@perrigoue.com, I don't seem to get notifications of PM's here for some reason.

FS: Stanley #20 8” Try Square
Posted by: pinsntails - Yesterday, 09:11 AM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - No Replies

I have for sale a vintage Stanley #20 try square in the very useful 8 inch size with rosewood stock. It has been gently reconditioned into a good worker condition, including the edges of the beam have been lightly filed to remove nicks, so you can confidently run your marking knife along its edge without running into burrs. A previous owner bored a hang hole and stamped their initials K.K. on the beam. As you can see in the attached photo, it marks square on both inside and outside edges.

  FS: Record 073 Shoulder Plane
Posted by: pinsntails - 03-16-2024, 09:40 AM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - No Replies

have for sale a Record 073 rabbet / shoulder plane in beautifully restored condition. This plane had surface rust when I got it about 20 years ago which I completely cleaned up. There is no pitting. Very sharp and ready to clean up tenon faces and shoulders, and cut rebates as you please. It has a wonderful heft in the hand and a joy to use. This is the venerable shoulder plane that Lie-Neilsen patterned their 073 Large Shoulder Plane after, which they sell for $350.

It’s been a faithful occupant of my toolchest, so I hate to part with it but it’s time to thin the herd. Asking $200 + shipping. PM me if you would like additional pictures. Payment via Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle is preferred. Local pickup in the greater Cincinnati area is also an option.

FS: Two Stanley Block Planes – G12-060 and G12-020
Posted by: pinsntails - 03-16-2024, 09:35 AM - Forum: Tool Swap N' Sell - No Replies

I have for sale two Stanley block planes. They are made in England of relatively modern manufacture. The first is a G12-060, which has a 1 3/8” wide iron. The second is a G12-020 which has a 1 5/8” wide iron.

I purchased the G12-020 around 1970 or 1980 at a hardware store in the Dominican Republic. It has been fettled and used regularly as my carpentry block plane. The sole has a few minor scratches along one edge but has recently been lapped so there are no burrs.

I purchased the G12-060 used at a tool swap meet in Atlanta hosted by Highland Woodworking, this was around 1997 or so. I’m guessing this one is in the ‘80s vintage era but I’m just guessing. This one was my primary fine handwork block plan and has been well fettled and sharpened.

Both of these have the lateral adjuster distinctive of these models. Clean planes ready for trimming all your little parts and pieces and creating pretty chamfers on corners all day long. I can provide additional photos for a serious inquirer, just PM me.

Asking $35 for each + shipping. If you want both I’ll do a package deal for $65 + shipping. Payment via Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle is preferred. Local pickup in the greater Cincinnati area is also an option.
