There has been some confusion over the process and reasons for banning members. The intent has always been to make this a family friendly forum enjoyable by all. The co-operation of all members is required to achieve the goal. The rules are plain and simple and posted in plain view. If someone is violating any of the rules the process is: 1. A warning will be issued via PM if any moderator should find a member in violation of the rules. All moderators will be notified of this action. 2. A second violation will result in a temporary revocation of user privileges with notification and reason sent to the email address listed in the member's user profile. The standard has been set at one week. If you use an alternate user-name during this week, you automatically go to step 3. At the end of the temporary revocation period, users must request reinstatement via email. (Email addresses are available via anonymous view of a moderator profile.) 3. A third violation will result in banning the users and ALL aliases from WoodNet permanently. Persons that feel they have been unjustly punished may initiate a review by contacting any of the moderators via PM or e-mail. All of the above applies across all forums. Members have asked to know who is banned and why. This will be posted for a few days on a sticky in the forum of the offense with one caveat. There will be NO discussion, gloating or whining about the ban however subtle in any forum. Those that do will be deemed to be violating rule 1 or 2 and find themselves at the appropriate point of the above procedure. Let it go and move on; learn from it if you can. When a warning is issued, the offending post will be edited and duly noted if possible with the rule violation and warning in its place. Threads that have become dirty in the nature of exchange, or appearing on a downhill spiral will be moved to the moderator forum for review. They may be returned if in there is a consensus of the moderators that the thread can continue inside of our guidelines. |
