Correct, it looks like it comes with it's own version. Seems an expensive way of using a guide bushing? Maybe I'm missing something else it does.

The standard router base and a guide bushing. Most router come with a centering device, and certainly most guide bushing sets do also.
Don't get me wrong, I like buying tools and toys, but that seems a little overkill for the job at hand.
What router do you have, and whats the objective? Maybe we can help save some pennies for you

If the guide bushing is not perfectly centered on the bit, the cut will be closer to one side than the others. That means the way that you hold the router will affect the cut. This matters when you're routing a pattern using a template & you need to get multiple parts identical.
So you can pay for a centering cone & get it right or not & throw away good stock & do it over when the parts come out different.

if you're running the router along a fence and you roll the router base as you do so, then your cut will be wavy if not centered with one of these cones. if you're router is on a track device that rides on the fence - no problemo.

A perfectly centered guide bushing is absolutely critical when using dovetail jigs.

The Bosch does not have a PC base plate? If thats the case, then have at the plate you mentioned, there are cheaper ways, but I'm sure it's well made and will serve you well for many years.

HD was closing that out ~$13, IIRC. I picked one up.

HD has been great lately, I picked up a bosch lithium battery for the ps40 today, less than $15
to the OP, try Ebay, I'm sure you can find a bargain on there that will get you going.

Pat offer's two base styles, round and offset. I own one of each for my most used routers. They are high quality bases, the large round one gives you great support on dovetail jigs etc and the offset bases are just great for edge work.
The bases are well worth the money IMO though the centering kit is something he started selling after I bought my bases.

I am having a mental block trying to picture exactly what the subbase from Pat Warner looks like. Is the centering ring permanently fixed and the PC collar fits on it?
Anyone have a picture of the setup that they don't mind uploading?
