Only 107 today.
|
|
Tomorrow and Wednesday is forecast to be 111.
Ugly, but not as bad as some of you folks have had in the last week or so. Its a dry heat.

Temp dropped about 20 degrees here from last week. I got to open the shop doors today and turn off the a/c.
I can never understand when people complain about snow. Winter weather is so refreshing!

Agreed. Plus it kills off all the bad bugs.

Well I'm just glad that it's hotter outside of TX for a change. Been way better than last year so far. Last summer was brutal. Nearly 100 days at or above 100* with around 75 of those in a row. Add to that humidity yet no chance of rain and the fact that at 2am it was still in the 90s and it would hit 80-82 for a low just before the sun came up for all of 2 minutes... I think it's time to move north. I can shovel snow I can't shovel the sun away. And heating is way cheaper than cooling.

The weather here is really boring...Sunny and 70's for the last two months.

Yeah the numbers you have include richter scale and property that is measured in sq inches vs acres.
We have AC.

100 days over 100 is normal here.
Wednesday, we are supposed to have thunder storms as well. We are supposed to put a finish on the two cabinets we finished today too. That might not work out well.

Still 106 at 9:00 PM and we hit 116 for our high. Humidity was 4% in the afternoon, now 10%. Its hot, but my lumber stays dry/stable and my hot rods and classic cars DO NOT rust! Gene

I think so far June to present, we've cracked 100 on maybe 5-6 days at most. 70-80s during the day down to 50s at night. Last summer was so mild could hardly get any tomatoes to grow. Sorry we couldn't help others out swapping a few degrees of warmth for some of our natural AC.

I can honestly say that I deal with the cold and snow better than I deal with hot and humid for days on end. Unfortunately the cold and snow lasts about 5 months here, and is accompanied by lots of gray cloudy days....at least it's invigorating and there's oxygen in the air! Give me sunny and 65°F anytime!

Grew up in Cleveland on 7 acres with a pond and no neighbors. Lived in Florida, Arizona, New York, Texas and Illinois. I can't say one is any better than the other and all had good and bad points. We've been fortunate here during the heat wave back East. I made the choice to live here and the weather had a lot to do with it. I'm not alone and it accounts for the ridiculous property values that you mentioned.
Al Gore is probably sitting at home saying I told you so.

Unfair post from Richard D. and should be deleted...LOL I have been thinking of posting, guess this is a good time. I too have one of those oven states. Central Arkansas. Love it when I go stand under a shade tree perfectly still and perspiration drips like a faucet. Seriously, I have been doing an internet search for a milder climate within about 4 hrs of Little Rock, AR. Looking at Bristol TN.
Anyone in that area or range with milder climates than 112-116 heat index.

Thats the way it is for sure. Don't try spraying lacquer. You just get powder out of the gun.
I usually spray at dawn for that reason in the summer.
This evening it will be wipe on poly since they are just shop cabinets.

You too. One of my criteria is that I have to be able to grow a lawn there. Not that crabgrass they call St augustine here either. Real grass, you guys up north know what grass I mean. Some of Eastern TN looks promising and there are trees there so cheaper lumber (another criteria). Don't mind if it gets hot during the day in the summer as long as it cools down at night. Like above I also moved around some.. Started in DE grew up in Hawaii and ended up in tx. First state to the last then to the middle. We have thought about the big Island as houses are reasonable there and away from other people no heat no ac so little elec needed and easy to provide with solar. But meat and dairy are much more expensive and we are carnivores.
Looked at Wunderground for SO cal. Most of it is really nice there just hot the east side of the mountains but the humidity was starting off at less than 20%. We rarely see humidity that low in the winter. 77% here....

Well today's gonna be an adjustment. 'got back last night from living in a tent for 10 days on the outskirts of Haines, Alaska, where we got to consider 55-60 degrees F as "warm". It's supposed to hit 90 here today; ugh.

Ouch, Mike, that blows. Our temps just dropped 15* with a cool front that moved in. Should stay in the mid-upper 80's for the rest of the week. It's a huge relief--I need to finish the fence out back!
