Porter Cable routers - tablesawtom - 12-17-2023

While doing some research for a different post I realized that I didn't see any Porter Cable routers listed anywhere. The PC690 was once the go to, when purchasing a router. I heard that Black @ Decker had pretty much destroyed the brand after they bought them out, but I though the router would still be around.  At least I though that it was Black and Decker. Anyway is the PC router completely gone from the market?

Also I also didn't find any single speed 3 1/4 HP routers for sale. The ones I found were variable speed. Dose anyone still make a single speed big dog any more?

Tom

Yes, PC routers are gone.
Never knew a single speed 3 1/4 hp router existed. I would'nt think its a good idea.

None that I'm aware of (single speed big router)....yep; they killed off the router line, and pretty much the entire PC name.

New PC routers are gone for all intents and purposes.   Ya might run across an orphan or two at a mom and pop or industrial supply house.

The used/ secondary market always has them though - from new in the box to rode hard and put up wet.

PC is still around, though limited.

Single speed 7500's have always been around. Here's a listing, may be just whats left. Dunno.

I have four (4) D-handle 7500 single speeds. Yes, D-handles. They were rare. Bought them through Graingers.

CPO is still around. Looks to be OOS on routers.

I know that PC made single speed routers in the 3 1/4 HP range. I used one. I used one when cutting aluminum  in a tool and die shop. Yes, I am sure that Porter Cable routers can still be found. I was just wondering if they were still being produced of if they have gone out of production.

In these changing time I am certain that there are other manufactures that will fill the hole, But it is saddening anyway.

For me the $475.50 price tag is out of my price range now that I am on a fixed income. . But it does look like the brand is still around, but I didn't see any routers.

Again just curious is all.

Ya didn’t really dig deep enough…………………

Follow the buying links on the PC website and come back and tell us which routers you can find for purchase, and where.

And tell us if you can actually add the 7500 to your tool orbit cart for checkout .

Tom -

the “brand” is still around. Though , it’s been relegated to a consumer tools lineup (mostly for Lowes) these days. If you’re set on having a PC router - you’re gonna have to start watching the secondary market.

I'm sure you can fulfill that need for yourself.

Perhaps you’d like to amend your post so as not to get other member’s hopes up ; only to have them dashed after wasting their time.
