It started with a phone call from one of my customers/contractors.
Joe can you squeeze a kitchen remodel into your schedule and complete 5 additional cabinets to go with some existing units and an island in a 40 day window? HO's first child is due in mid July and the existing cabinet company (Kemper) claims they did not get the order until two days ago Now they say a rush is is 8-14 weeks out.
I went and looked at what did and did not exist on May 28, bid the job on the and signed the contract on the 31 and started on the cabinets June 1
On July 3 this is where we were.

And this is it on July 13.

Can you tell the cabinets in the main runs I made to supplement the existing ones.
Oh and we went over 45 days instead of 40 (sink was warped) and they had to order a new one before the granite top could be installed.
Jr was born last week
Thanks for looking.
Joe

You've been at this awhile, and it shows.
Looks Great! Please keep sharing the pictures and add some details.
I'd like toknow more about the following: - Wherer'd the cabinets come from? - Where'd the design come from and how much did the layout change from what was there? - Is the counter granite?
Share if you wish ~ thanks

I'd like toknow more about the following: - Wherer'd the cabinets come from? OEM cabinets were from Kemper manufacturing - Where'd the design come from and how much did the layout change from what was there? - The original design was against a wall where I stood to photograph; the pictures you see now would have been the long run and resided 16feet closer to me and would have been in line with the now tall cabinetry and refrigerator resides. 2 of the upper units to the right of the cook top were part of the old island; I made doors for those units. The new design was laid out by the HO and contractor, I did all the island design based on available space and the constraints of the granite top which is one piece. - Is the counter granite? yes.

no one wants to take a guess on the additional cabinets I incorporated BTW all the cabinets are cherry, if that helps you

Joe, well that explains why you haven't been hanging around here much the past few weeks. Beautiful work, and no, I can't tell which cabinets you custom made to match the existing ones. That tells me that you are not only a great craftsman, but have a very good eye when it comes to matching a finish. I wish I lived nearby. I'd love to see your shop and more of your work.
Congrats on another great job.

Thanks for playing Mac.
I added the two small uppers in the corner , the 4 door pantry to the right of the oven/ micro, the base cabinet to the left of the cook top and the end cabinet waste can unit. I built doors for the two upper wide units to the end as well but I told you that in the OP.
The existing cabinets were installed 6 yrs ago by the contractor and salvaged before I got involved, a good scrubbing by the HO cleaned them up nicely Thanks for noting how well we matched the color on the units, only time will tell if they will all continue to age fairly equally.
The island has the granite suppliers a bit on the nervous side (they want a support leg installed but they are the only ones who believe that the system used is not adequate to support the granite ( the top is a torsion box I fabricated in the shop) So we shall see how it holds up over time. I am confident it will support the top just fine, the area that is unsupported is less than 10% around the perimeter.

At least it was a fairly easy pattern to copy. I have to make some additional cabinets for our kitchen and I could not find the correct panel raising cutter to match what's already there. I had to "compromise" and at least the r&s cutters I had DID match. It looks OK unless you look really close. You did a fine job on those cabs and in a LOT less time than it would take me!
