Woodcraft has a modular tool rest system where you can buy one post and affix different tool rests to it. Anyone use this system? It looks good to me on the surface but would like to hear from others who may be using it.

I have one with the 4" rest and the bowl rest. I still use the 4" but the bowl rest is too flimsy.
If I had to do it again I would buy the individual rests I needed

Post and two came with my used lathe. I'd give them to you, except they made it to an iron and steel recycler a couple years ago.
No way would I pay, having seen and tried to use them.

Steve I have the bowl and the box rest and use both. The box rest is solid the bowl rest is fine as long as you keep it close. I'm sure there are better out there.

I have the LV ones also, however, I ended up buying a separate post for each rest as it was too much hassle to switch them back and forth mid-project. These are solid and I use them exclusively now.

I picked up the Modular Tool Rest system from Packard Woodworks for my Jet Mini shortly after getting the lathe. I have never regretted it. I have a 6" and 9" bar. Linky

I have 3 sizes of the WC ones shown. I really like using them, need to tighten them snugly on the shaft to avoid them turning, AND be careful not to drop them, the plastic insert may pop out or break. I reglued one with silicon caulk, and haven't been able to fix one. But I like the feel of using them, your fingers/knuckles slide easily and comfortably. Ray
