Instead of posting individual videos, here's a link to my woodworking playlist. This should include all of the turning videos I've made, including processing bowl blanks, hook tools, taphandles, knitting needles, and everything else.
Link to my Youtube woodworking/woodturning playlist.
And in case you're curious about the other stuff I do, here's my channel homepage.

Informative videos Joe. Were the logs cut for NE bowls?

I take it you pitched the side with the branch in it?
The question about NE (bark up) probably arises because you made no opposing slab cut. I do the slab while the chunk is large and manageable, then cut parallel through the pith.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Glad you like them. I sure had fun making them
I used Adobe Premier Elements for everything. Pretty easy to use, and it has a direct-to-YouTube button, which is very convenient. I've got a mic setup from when I calibrated my home theater (Behringer ECM8000 mic and Eurorack UB802 preamp) that I used to do the voice-over.

Yes, the other side will be firewood. The branch was rotted in the center and it'll be more trouble than it's worth.
I also usually cut a slab on the side, but I often don't bother will smaller pieces like this. Since I usually start bowls between centers, I just trim it up on the lathe with a big bowl gouge.
Thanks again for the feedback. There should be at least two more videos coming soon.

You have the same chainsaw I have! Last week I cut out 20 bowl blanks - my back was TIRED. One thing I like to do when x-cutting logs is wedge them so they don't roll. I like to keep a few "corners" from previous cuttings for this.

Yeah, I love my Husqy I called it quits shortly after taking that video. You can see some of the piles of wood I had cut up before that. I also did a lot of firewood splitting, moving logs around and shucking big hunks up onto the bandsaw table. I slept *very* well that night
I do love a nice, honest day's work. Makes you feel like you accomplished something.

Great video's for a newbi like myself . I like how you stop video and point important things out . The over voice is another great part , it's hard to hear over the lathes on some of the other Youtube Videos . Thanks for posting them . What part of NJ are you in ?

I thought you had the quietest chainsaw EVER
Great video. I do my turning on whole log mesquite. I prefer wet, but the lats batch I got has lasted me over two years so now its dry. Mesquite doesnt crack through the pith. It might have partial checks no more than an inch or two, so even dry, whole log end grain turning is safe.
I havent tried the cuts that you use, I use a termite tool. I wonder if that cut you use would work on end grain cutting?

Joe, thanks for the videos. I really enjoyed them.
Your voice sounds just like the actor who played Monica's millionaire boyfriend on Friends...you know...the guy who was going to become the next worlds greatest fighter.
I was dying to see how you finished that green blank, but I guess the last shot of you at the bandsaw made that a bit unnecessary...

Hmmm.
This makes me feel guilty about the firewood I've been cutting lately. Large chunks of walnut and maple which I was going to split this week. Now that they've started to dry and check.
Gotta get a bigger lathe for bowl turning. Crap! Did I just say that!? I have to make the jet mini last longer than 4 months.

Thanks for continually bumping these, as I am new and had not come across this post. Can't you just sticky it to the front page? Seems easier than continually bumping (which I know some forums don't look at kindly).
Great videos Joe, I came across some of them independently on YouTube and must say they are some of the best out there.

The only problem with this is the threads get deleted from the system after a year if no one bumps them (I think).
And thanks for the kind words, everyone. I really enjoy making the videos, so I'm glad you guys enjoy them!
There have been a few new ones added that aren't in this thread. I'll get those up after the holidays, but you can always find them on my Youtube channel.

You're not missing anything. Those are the only videos I make.
But seriously, folks, I'll take a look at the embedded videos and see if I can fix them.
In the meantime, here is a direct link to my woodworking/woodturning playlist. See if that works for ya.
