This was mentioned downstairs, but now we have seen everything.
One positive from this is that it's nice to see someone's putting money behind the Spear & Jackson name.

I want the dovetail saw version.
Actually, with the cost of lasers going down so much, adding one to anything only costs about $5, I'd think. Of course there's some engineering costs, but the feature isn't all that expensive.
Doesn't mean a laser will take the place of practice, practice, practice.

After plenty of practice, and if they're using a decently-tuned saw, probably not. But I can see how that'd be appealing to someone who wanted to skip the practice part... Or to someone who had a dull, unevenly-set saw and thought their experience was representative of all hand saws. Andy

Thanks for sharing Cian.
A lot of fishing lures were designed to catch fishermen.
That said, Sawing to the line is not like firing a bullet. Course corrections are possible with every stroke, and so with mindfulness and attention to detail, every stroke can count.
Tune up a saw and watch what you are doing. It isn't a complex thing to master. I guess I am enamored with the skill and the challenge, the feel of a wooden handled tool and it's connections to the people who made things with them...
Next up, New from Ginsu USA, Chisels with vibratory hammer drill technology, cleverly built into the handles... Your choice, Socket or Tang, any ergo shape you like! Cuts like every steel you ever sharpened, no bevel angles required. Please call before midnight tonight!
I know my horns are showing but man that saw is just so Ron Popeil to me...

Can I retrofit my Disstons?
If you can't cut to the pencil line, are you going to be able to cut to the laser line?

Anyone can cut to a laser line every time. The problem is the laser line on a handsaw is a moving target!

I have to think it'd be easier on a saw (which is already in an established kerf) than with a pair of scissors...
