Stanley tool works has aquired Black and Decker.

Wonder if they will split up the brands B&D owns?

Hurting---I thought they were hanging on by a cobweb! They have very low rates of distribution of their products. There must be some other divisions going strong. I haven't seen their hardware lines around for a long time.

This will be interesting. Just as B&D finishes up acquiring a huge market share by virtue of what they've bought. Let's just hope we don't loose any in the mix.

guess it depends on where you shop. HD, Lowes Ace, OSH, Target all carry Stanley, heck even Walmart has some Stanley products. I doubt any of them carry every thing Stanley makes but that's true of any manufacturer.

The pundits were saying Stanley had low debt.

With what Stanley did with/for Mac, I'm not hopeful.

Mark---I'm sure it does. Just seems to me they used to dominate the market more than they do today. Anyway---it will be interesting to see what transpires.

Looks like Stanley has been aquiring companies for years. Last ten years or so its been mostly security equipment companies.

Stanley has had a huge hardware presence in all the hardware store aisles I've been down in Edmonton for the past several years.

They've also had a (re?)emergence in the mechanics' tools market in the past couple years (at least here). I bought a socket set a while back and I am impressed with it.

I didn't know they had acquired Mac. I would assume that has something to do with their appearance in the mechanics' tools market?

If this keeps up, in a few years there will be one supplier of tools and hardware for the whole bloody world.
