I took the plunge and bought a Domino this week. I am very impressed so far, but I need help with the dust collection. I did not buy a Festool vac, I assumed that I could use one of my Rigid shop vacs or simply sweep up the shavings when I'm done like I have done with my biscuit jointer. After reading some of the info that came with the unit it sounds like I have to use a dust collector for the machine to work properly.
My question is how do I adapt my existing vacs to the Domino? I don't really want to spend another $500 for a new cleaner when I already have 2 plus a dust collection system. Also, does not using a vac of some sort really make a difference?
Thanks for the help, Steve

Email Bob and he'll tell you what you need, it is probably just a simple adapter.

What size hose nozzle is on your shop vac? I used my Fein with festool stuff for years before buying a CT22
I used an adapter that made it work well.

I have used my domino without a vacuum or dust collector, and it works, but it isn't something i really like to do. I have used my dust collector connected to the domino with adapters, and that worked fine, but nowaday i like to use my Fein. I pick up hose adapters here and there when i see them or get a notion, and out of my collection, i found something that allowed me to connect to the domino fine with the Fein, or the dust collector. Sorry i can't be more specific, but researching an adapter is something you can take care of, or you can use your domino without, which does work in a pinch.

You HAVE to use a vacuum; it clogs otherwise. But any vacuum will work. The connection for PC will fit fine, or you can buy a Festool hose end for $10. In a pinch, duct tape something on.

There are numerous adapters available for hooking up various hoses to just about any tool. To make life easy for yourself, take Bill-E's advice and contact Bob.
In the meantime, don't discount the value of duct tape. It even works on Festool stuff.

YES!
It is not just about sweeping up the floor afterward. It is not just about the tool clogging. It is definitely about the quality of the cut. The vacuum sucks the wood chips out of the mortise while the orbital action of the bit is cutting the hole. Without it, the quality of the cut suffers.

I got one of these and use it with a shop vac when needed. Works with any number of tools with small vac ports. The down side is that it is not static resistant.
