The stairs to the attic and the stairs to the basement are in separate areas. Part of the demo work with the bath, kitchen and dining area will be to build a new set of stairs to the basement and attic in the same spot. I'm good there as I will make those stairs wide and easily accessible.
The exterior access is the problem. That bulkhead leads to cement stairs and a narrow doorway. Getting the tools down there will be a difficult task. I'm used to working around things like this. I'll figure it out. I may have to dig a new access hole for wood stairs that I can remove so I can drop straight down.
This was the last tool move/s. Getting them in:

The kitchen last time had so many switches I almost had to label them. Recessed cans, task lighting, under and over cabinet lights and much to her dismay, I even had a couple ceiling fans in the kitchen.
Big banks of switches confuse people. Labeling is ugly and really not less confusing.
When I lay out the electric for a kitchen, I never have more than 4 switches in one space, usually 3 is tops. I place the switch near to the devise location. The undercab lights are switched proximal to the task location, not 3-wayed. Same with the over cab lights. The recessed lights are switched at each entrance (3-way), they light up the room upon entry. Any accent light or light above the table is switched close by. Ceiling fans can use pull chains, I have some in the house.
It's a better flow to have intuitive switches rather then a row where each is flipped to see what happens.

Yes. I believe I see what you're saying.

I was thinking earlier that I've never been so happy to take on so much work...
Went by the place twice today just to contemplate and plan my strategy.
And I still don't have a clue

Just got in the place to look around again. Place is in better condition than I thought. Brought my mom to see it and she found the missing window sashes in the basement. 7 windows were boarded up and I figured I'd have to live with it for now or install replacements. Guess I can put these back in for the time being. Less money I have to spend up front. Yeah!

JR, you know you are going to have to keep this thread going do you? You've got a bunch of us hooked on what you're doing doing to the house. We would also like to see action shots of you and especially your helpers.
