Interesting. Obviously they don't have termites and carpenter ants in England. A building like that would be an all you can eat buffet and spread termites all over the city by the trillions and zillions.

Nope, they'd include enough lethality in the glue to stop that, I'm sure. Borates would do for that and fire resistance.
Steel is the most-recycled material in the US. No codes need be changed, nor restrictions in altitude made to continue using it. Unlike Austria, we have a lot of iron left to work with. Besides, as those who have seen those "managed for centuries" monoculture forests can attest, they're not likely to be tolerated by environmentalists.
