Sorry to be so wordy. Volunteered to refinish chairs at local senior center. Chairs are windsor-type, clear finish seats, white painted backs and legs. I’ve been taking chairs apart. Finishing seats with Zinsser Bulls Eye Seal Coat shellac, then wipe-on poly. Backs and legs, sanding, spraying with water base Alkyd Emulsion. Happy with result. QUESTION: could I sand, spray Seal Coat on whole chair, then apply poly and paint? Saving me disassembly and reassembly? Any help is appreciated. Jon

I haven't tried that combination but don't see why not, off the top of my head. But do a quick test on a small spot and see for sure.

Paint works fine over sealcoat; I did just that yesterday. It was black paint going on maple and it was easier than using BIN primer.

Yes, you can do that. Just allow enough time for the shellac to fully dry--two hours is fine.
