I'm often surprised by what can be ID'ed here.
Got this at a sale and have found no maker's marks anywhere. There's not an owner's stamped initials or last name which are typical on other wood planes I've found.
The cap over the iron is cast and the threaded rod goes through the body. A nice skew with a small nicker. 9.25" long, 1 7/16 wide.

I suppose it could be a one-off. Any ideas? Thank ya kindly.

That is a Stanley #80 steel cased rabbet plane (1877-1888). See also here. These planes were notorious for clogging where the iron projects through the steel side plate. Many No. 80 rabbet planes are found with user made side escapements. The patent that is marked on these planes is 168,431, which covers the manufacture of the steel shell.

Thanks Jeff-- I need a : because I have seen it before on PL's site. It's been a while. And this specimen has been opened on the sides to allow for escapement.
