the unisaw i picked up recently didn't have a blade washer. this may be a ridiculous question, but for the older unisaw owners/users out there, does the unisaw (~70s vintage) use a blade washer between the blade and the arbor nut when using single blades?

I only need to wash my blade after ripping a bunch of pine.

My Unisaw is from the late 70s or early 80s and it has a washer between the nut and the blade. I would be surprised if any year of Unisaw is different.

The ONLY time you don't use a washer is to get the maximum dado stack on with the nut fully threaded.

Even though you've already got the nut for your Uni, here's something you may want to consider. You can keep your current nut as a spare.

$27 for an arbor nut and washer? i'll just use one of the blade washers i've scavenged from one of the c-man RASs that work their way through my shop. besides, the new arbor on my unisaw uses a nut with threads that are different from the threads on a standard unisaw arbor. but with a blade on the resurrected unisaw, it makes a sweet sound.

While $27 for an arbor nut may seem a bit much, I highly recommend this accessory. I got one from Mike's for my RT Unisaw a couple of years ago and love it. (When I was looking for one Mike's was the only place that had it. Interestingly the one for left tilt saws is much cheaper, and more available.)
The washer is attached to the nut, and you can easily turn the assembly on and off the arbor by hand without dropping the nut. When changing blades I was always dropping the nut, and then having to fish around for it in the pile of sawdust inside the cabinet. With this arbor nut no more - it is easy to put on and to remove. Next to the Besiemeyer fence system it's the best accessory I've gotten for my Uni.

I use one of this (right-hand threads/left tilt saw) on my Jet Xacta and I too think it is great. When I bought mine from Tools Plus it was under $10. Now it is $24.50.
