Well someone had a metal DD high capacity on S'NS and a shop I occasionally deal with has a couple DD on 55 gallon drums.

Not trying to misdirect the thread, but have you tried this accessory item for your 735 I have been using one for several years, recently had to replace mine because the flow of chips going through degraded the material, and I had an air leak. LOML swears she is working on patching it  so I bought rather than wait. It`s function off of just the very powerful blower is accomplished by finding the proper angle of the tubing to get optimal flow. Shroud goes right over a standard trash can 39 gallon IIRC.

I bought the dust deputy and it does a good job, however, after having it only 2 weeks about 1 year ago the top poped off.
I called them and told them what happened and that I would like a different one. They wrote me back telling me how to fix it.
After 4 times of trying their fixes which did not work I strapped it together on two sides.
In so saying I like the product but hate the customer service and so will not be buying anything else from them.
To bad too I need some of their stuff for the Club.

Would anyone suggest getting the separator that uses the 30 or 55 gallon, or whatever it is sized on that has the 4" ports...just one of the $25 ones and then using it with a 2" hosed 16gallon craftsman shop vac? Or would that step down in the hose with such a big 30/55 gallon drum be too much for a good sized shop vac?

Jake , I have rocklers version of the lid & 4" ports you referenced in Woodcraft link . You only get the fittings from the Rockler set ( no lid ) I made my own lid and it works fine . I have it in-between my table saw and dust right wall mount dust collecter . I haven't had to empty the bag for quite some time . I do have the Dust Deputy on my shop vac . I like it also , yeah you have to dump the 5 gallon bucket but better than taking the vac apart . Gary

I have that exact one I bought from Woodcraft and have never used it. I will give it to you if you want it. The only thing is I have not found the right angle part that goes on the inside. It is the standard one for all machines.

Steve, Yes I bought that accessory as soon as I discovered it existed. Hood would not bite on the metal can nor would the drawcord seal. Chips & dust all over.
I'm thinking about using either the Rockler Vortex if I can get a 4" input for it or the Woodcraft top to fit the 30 gal can with a stepdown to the 2 1/2" hose on the Shopvac. I'm thinking that the Shopvac might draw enough air to keep things from backing up in the can and output hose. Be pretty useless for just sweeping the floor though. Good as the vortex might be for sweeping the floor Id doubt that it would be any good for the planer without a 4" input.
