I've been training them for a while now and finally they have created something I'm kinda proud of...
This is one of their earlier works.

Wormy stuff looks neat, but cleaning the frass - white powder in yours - out of the holes can be time-consuming. Dental picks, compressed air and lots of patience makes a handsome piece.
The presence of frass on the floor of the shop is a caution to get the beetle/grub problem under control FAST. Borax will end the problem after one reproductive cycle.
Termites don't leave frass.

Agree with MM. I use a Dremel tool to clean up the pieces. Sandblaster also works.

Please expand on the use of Borax. Thanks.

The spray spoils their larval feeding stage. Some say just scattering borax under your stack will do for the beetles. Kills mice, too. Which is a big problem every fall for us.

Presence of critters in turning stock is another reason for wearing a full face mask. There can be some fairly large wood worms hiding inside the block, and when you finally turn away enough wood to get to his hidey hole, SPLAAAAT!!!. Unless you are a hard-core, non-helmet wearing biker who is used to bugs in your teeth, wear the face mask.

Or you could exercise good sense and not stand in the throw zone. They don't come flinging back toward the tailstock.
