I could have sworn that I had emptied and cleaned out that gun
It wasn't quite solid yet but dang that goo wouldn't even pour.
Everything is soaking in DNA at the moment.
I'm glad it wasn't paint

JR, you might try common household ammonia, it should work faster. Sometimes the DNA won't dissolve the gooey shellac. Besides, the ammonia is a lot cheaper.

Had a couple gallons of DNA on hand so I let it soak while I took my mom to the doctor's for a carotid ulrasound... It didn't take long for her test or for it to dissolve. I was gone less than 2 hours and when I returned home, all was good.
I'll put it back together momentarily.

My dad was a maticulous painter/refinisher. Working for the finishes division of DuPont, he could tell you how to prep and finish a piece----but he didn't exactly set any speed records either. We had this one drop-leaf table that he'd started to refinish----it had one or two coats of varnish---and had been sanded down waiting for the next coat----which I don't believe it ever received. But to the point---I guess Dad always thought he'd get back to a project sooner than actually happened. You could always tell Dad had been working when you came across a paint brush soaking in a jar of thinner-----and generally left there until you could pick up the jar by the brush handle.

That reminds me of when I squeezed one long extra squirt of hardener into a coffee can of epoxy when glassing an old wood boat. Mixed it, wet down some glass cloth. Set the brush in the epoxy, went to work on a section of cloth with a plastic scraper for a few minutes, then went to pick up the brush again, and the can came with it. The big shock was when I grabbed the can with the other hand: Ow!!!!! That stuff made some ferocious heat. That taught me to make a religion out of counting the drops.

BTDT! Just trashed the gun. Too much trouble getting the tube cleaned out.
That ought to teach me... (cheap gun)
Modified this one to spray shellac on the ceiling. I hope it works. I'm going to suit up my middle son for the job

A mechanic's creeper and a really long extension wand and you could be spraying that yourself.

Can't look up to do it
I have just 20 degrees movement or so looking up right now.
It's a recipe for a massive headache of (beyond) migraine proportions.
Maybe a scissor lift with the rails removed and a mattress on my back.

Just understood the creeper part.
Just a pine subfloor in place with gaps.... otherwise I would have considered it.

Putting it up unfinished. Will try spraying shellac after it is all up. I hope that sprayer works
