No, not mine or for me ... enquiring for a friend ...
What would he expect to pay for a mint condition bronze #9 on eBay? What did the last one(s) sell for?
Regards from Perth

Here's one (not bronze) that went for $295.00 in July.

Thanks Joe, but it must be the bronze. Cast iron is easily found. They are not collectible since they are a current tool. This friend wants a bronze, and I explained that they would go for more since they are no longer available, and that this makes them a collector's item. What I am trying to determine is how much more.

Understood. I found one more bit of price data. It's from a subscription service, so I don't know what the pictured item sold for, but check the first paragraph, referencing (2) "recent" sales on eBay. BTW the sold date for the pictured item is 2008. link

Derek,
Is it an early or late bronze #9?
Early has the trigger adjuster and later the bailey style wheel adjuster.
Yes, both were available on the bronze body.
From a collectors standpoint the trigger is the more collectable unit as it was the first#9 from LN. These have their serial number scratched into the frog. expect $500-$600 for one of these. I think i bought mine for $450.
Strangely the bailey seems to command a little less but was made for a shorter period. Go figure. Most sellers don't know the difference though and will often ask for the higher price.
Some of us are luck and have all 3.
Yes i know i suck.
Tell your friend the iron is nicer to USE because it of its larger size.
You seem to be one where function comes before form and the newer ones are better IMO.
Still, the bronzes are pretty.
BTW the link above is nonsense and has been unchanged for MANY years.
I have NEVER seen a #9 go for more than $1000. The reference in the link to the bronze being a #1 instead of a 9 is due to the #1 on the bronze casting.

I had a new, in the box, type 1 bronze no. 9 that I recall paying about $900 or so from ebay. I sold it for what I paid for it here on WoodNet some time later.
