WIA 2013 Highlights Thread
      #6539836 - 10/19/13 09:41 PM

Okay, folks, time for some of you to post your highlights (or lowlights--we're not picky) from Woodworking in America 2013.

Here are a few random ones from me:

-Patrick Leach had an obscene amount of vintage tools for sale. I bought a couple.

-There were a surprising number of kids there, many of whom were the children of vendors.

-I overheard Tommy Mac order three shots of espresso over ice at Starbucks. That explains a lot.

-Megan Fitzpatrick, you need to finish that dissertation!

-I had a great time talking to some of our members, including Wilbur Pan and Isaac Smith. Isaac is a wicked saw maker!

-The Lie Nielsen booth is especially dangerous:

-I dropped a LN drawknife on my fingers. Deneb is really fast with the gauze and band aids!

Chris Schwarz tries out a prototype of the LN plow plane while Tom LN and Deneb look on.

More on my blog.

Okay, folks, how about the rest of you?

Ouch ......... that hurts just looking at it, you have to watch tools some have teeth .

Thanks for sharing your experience and am glad you were able to attend. I hope to be able to go one year myself.

How was the crowd ? I hope they had a good turnout.

Steve

I attended Friday.

1. Roy Underhill successfully hewed a log without drawing blood.

2. Rob't Lang TRIED to help me understand Sketch-Up, but as usual , most of it went in one ear and out the other.

3. Those Lee Valley guys had a good time Thursday night, with no signs of hangovers Friday.

4. I didn't buy anything. (well, except for Lang's digital book on Sketch-Up.) But I talked and looked at everything I could.

Glad you had a good time – and I hope the fingers have healed! (And thanks again for allowing me to dragoon you for the Online Woodworking Roundtable – way to represent WN!)

Today is the first day without band-aids.

And you have to finish because I want to read it. You're not the only person on earth interested in both Renaissance drama and woodworking. Although you may well be one out of two.

That - is hilarious! Sadly, I couldn't make it this year. Wanted to, but I was supposed to be on business travel. Then they cancelled my trip. Bummer.
