WoodNet Forums: Good Cause if you're in Iowa

Tools for Opportunity is a group that collects hand and power tools and makes them available to woodworkers in developing countries. They collect tools, clean, sharpen, if necessary, pack and ship the tools. The current shipment will go to twelve groups of woodworkers in El Salvador, most of whom are supporting their families with their woodworking. Note: I wrote "if you're in Iowa" because the tools have to get to the Tools for Opportunity collection site in Ames, Iowa. Sometimes, the cost of shipping is more than the tools are worth.
You can also give cash. This will be used primarily to ship the tools to El Salvador. And/or you can volunteer to refurbish tools.
