Stanley T11 vs T12 - longbarrel50 - 08-10-2015

Is there any difference in use between these two types? Is one better than the other? I use a variety of planes for small jobs and don't know much about the type differences.
I found a #5 T12 at a yard sale this weekend and was just curious.
Thanks,
Chris

Short answer, no. Both have essentially the same construction and both work well. Small variations only. Type 12 is the first of the "Sweetheart" logo'ed planes.

The functional difference is the tall knob was introduced on the Type 12. Some, myself included, prefer the shorter knob.
