Stanley eggbeater question - johndi - 10-10-2015
Found this at a garage sale this morning
Marked no 626 SW
Everything I found on the web shows the "wheel?" With a closed cover not
spokes like on this. Trying to date it.
Also I tightened the chuck and now I can't get the darn thing
to open and don't want to mangle it.

I am not as familiar with the Stanley drills as I am Millers Falls, but if the crank arm is original, then the Sweetheart logo dates it to between 1919 and 1932.
As for the stuck chuck, screw it out as if you were trying to open the jaws. Lightly tap the end of the jaws with a piece of wood. They should pop loose. Squirt some penetrating oil in there and work it back and forth. That should get it working again. If this doesn't work, then you will need to disassemble the chuck to clean and lubricate it.

Tapped them and they went in.
Looks like all the springs are there. I'll try some oil in the chuck.
Need to oil the threads too, now the chuck is stuck at the end

that's a good drill. I had one a while back. Used it for a while and did quite well with it on eBay.
