Buffing equipment - Captain Pete - 12-12-2015
I'm in the market for buffing equipment. I know about Beall, but several years ago there was a discussion of buffing equipment and there was another company that got a lot of discussion for their wheels. What was that company?

Don Pencil was the other one but is no longer available. Penn State Industries also has one that uses an MT2 taper . All three wheels are on the lathe at one time with the PSI one.

Wheels you can get anywhere, Borg to Beall. Tripoli, rouge and white (think it's Cerium Oxide) sticks are as well. If you have a spare motor, that's the way to go, especially if it's got a long shaft. Else get an arbor/chuck for it. While you're shopping around, look at http://klingspor.com/ where they sell mini mops and star sanders. With the longer reach you can get inside shallow pieces, and with an open end secured, you can even tempt Newton with some pressure.

I get buffing supplies from Caswell Plating. They have some nice combo/starter kits with wheels and compounds. Great quality, great service.

+1 for Caswell. That is what first popped into my head at the start of reading this thread.
In a discussion on the AAW forum someone had a side by side photo of the Penn St. Ind buffing with the Beall three on a lathe. No comparison. The quality of materials and machining was magnitudes better on the Beall.

I have a Beall, but needed a wheel specific for plastic buffing!
