M/T using router - weelis - 01-12-2016 Want to start using router to do M/T joints. Are there any good tutorials or articles out there that would help to learn this technique? Thnx Re: M/T using router - sniper - 01-12-2016 ShopNotes issue #64, page 14. I've been using that jig for years and love it. PM me if you need details. I recommend a plunge router powerful enough to handle a 1/2" collet and a 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" spiral up bit. Not being made anymore, but you may locate a used one. Re: M/T using router - Boatman53 - 01-12-2016 I've got a mortise jig I've never used, it needs a new home. I'll take some pics tomorrow. Jim Re: M/T using router - Mr Eddie - 01-13-2016 +1 I've been using the FWW jig. It works well for me. Lonnie Re: M/T using router - Steve N - 01-13-2016 You Tube version of this jig https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKZJyBuqYIs Re: M/T using router - Dennis Puskar - 01-13-2016 Great advise I would go with the one from Ray Newman and Steve N, jig is very easy to make and set up. Re: M/T using router - Routerman - 01-13-2016 Morticing with a router Re: M/T using router - AgGEM - 01-13-2016 This is mine: Based on a couple of examples I found on YouTube. One addition I made was the use of a shim to establish the center of the cut. With that, I only have to measure for center on a given thickness of stock one time. Then make a shim, mark and save it. Same for a leg reveal. Since this works off center lines, any size cutter will always be centered for a given shim with the given stock. Hope that makes sense. See here: Ag |
