Tabletop build - MauleSkinner - 02-17-2016

Our small dining table is adequate for our family, but when we have guests we come up short. I decided to build an auxiliary tabletop to clamp to the current table.

Here I'm jointing for the final glue up. You can see from the plane tracks that edge gluing isn't my forte...I had to even the boards out way too much after gluing.

Here's the final glue up...I had to do it on the dining table.

More to come....

Thanks for looking!

David

Whoa whoa whoa,

Im sure there is a dining table in there somewhere but give me details on those wooden clamps. ie: hand made, how, ?? Those look great.

The table top will come out great I think. Nothing that a little more handplaning wont take care of. We all need more practice.

The clamps are a larger version of these...

He probably gets more clamping power than I do with my wooden screws, but once I figured out how to joint long boards again, clamping pressure wasn't an issue.

I'll try to make time in the next couple days to post pics of mine, with more detail.
