Mortise jig clamp question - ®smpr_fi_mac® - 06-30-2016

I want to build the following jig to put mortises in a set of table legs, but the legs are 2.75" square, and the 3" clamps used won't work, at least according to one of the comments below the video.

So I'm trying to find a 4 inch, or even better, a 5 inch version of this:

Any advice?

Punch a larger diameter hole, and Bobs yer Uncle

just mill two wooden standoffs (extenders) to push the clamps back to open the area....

Easy peasy

Yep, I have some of those clamps and for this application, they're really ideal.

Shim them out.

Thanks.
