One of my proudest woodworking achievements - Johneone - 08-29-2016

I made this stool in 1968 in shop class.  It's about three feet high and was made completely with hand tools.
In my shop class you had to make a number of items but the stool was the culmination of everything you had been taught - stock prep, tapers, angled mortice and tenons, etc.  it was the culmination of your wood shop curriculum before you could go on to design and make whatever you wanted ( with the shop teachers approval).
Simple painted pine, in fact thats all we ever worked, no hardwoods.  Then again this was a state funded school in England, so no money for hardwoods.
Mr Patterson was my shop teacher, remember him well and owe him a lot.

Unfortunately its back in England, recently discovered at my parents old house - I might have to make another one, although i'm going to need to re-learn quite a bit.

Are you trying to post pictures as an attachment?  That doesn't seem to work well.

Pics need to be hosted (photobucket, flickr, etc) and referenced by an https link.

Looking forward to seeing it when you conquer the picture business.

Best I could do - let me know if the links do not work

I thought the one thing they would have done when they updated the site was to make it easy to share pictures - seems I was wrong.

That's a pretty nice stool.  Lots of sophisticated layout work there.

That is a great looking project. All hand tools and 47 years ago and you are still woodworking. Isn't that something. And now most schools don't have shop. I still have the piece I finished in 1960 so I understand what it means to you. Thanks for sharing.
