Pole saw replacement blade opinions - Pirate - 10-12-2016

I need to replace the saw blade on an extendable pole saw.
Any recommendations on a good blade? Hopefully, a great blade!

Look here, where the pro's buy 'em.  I got a Marvin, but you have to see what would fit.  Couldn't justify a Silky's cost.

Edit:  you could sharpen it if not impulse hardened and/or totally rusted out; I bought new as mine was a rustbucket from a flea market, bought it for the pole.

I thought the same until I used a Zubat.

Hands down, the best saw I've ever used.

I don't know about any of these professional blades.  I got one at ACE that works really well.  It was the only one they had there at the time.  Can't recall the brand.  It works a lot better than the original blade.

I was going to say the same...you can't justify it until you've used one.

I can't justify anything BUT Silky saws...but I am getting paid to use them.

The Zubat is good.  The Sugoi is better.  I'll leave the chainsaw in the truck for anything smaller than 6" diameter...and if I only have 1 or two 8" dia limbs, I'll still use the Sugoi.

As for pole saws, I have a Hayate and it is great.

Marvin, Fanno and ARS saws are good...but they aren't Silky.

If I were forced to buy a non-Silky, I'd probably try a Sherrill:  http://www.sherrilltree.com/sherrilltree-polesaw-head-set-with-adapter-and-13in-blade  or perhaps a Wicked:  http://www.sherrilltree.com/wicked-tree-gear-wicked-pole-saw-replacement-blade  I haven't used them, but I trust Sherrill.  TreeStuff is also a very good place...I buy a lot of stuff from them.  If you don't want to spring for a Silky, call either of those places and ask them what they'd recommend.
