RE: marking gauge plans - hbmcc - 01-27-2017 I think Steve's (Bibliophile) and the PDF from Pop Wood are the same design. It's pretty standard, and about the nicest I would make; and I obsess over details. Got your scratch stock too. If you are hardpressed, snap a broken or dull bit if necessary. They drill holes for a while. RE: marking gauge plans - Admiral - 01-27-2017 (01-27-2017, 05:25 PM)CBoatman53 Wrote: Admiral use the non working end of a drill bit. That's why I save my broken bits. Yeah, makes sense. RE: marking gauge plans - overland - 01-28-2017 The Pop Woodworking article is very good. It's a nice gauge. It's a little easier if you drill a hole and use a piece of dowel as the wedge, but either way these are excellent tools. RE: marking gauge plans - DaveLeard - 01-30-2017 The intersecting dowel design is in Fine Woodworking #70 and is my all time favorite. It uses the side acting captive wedge which is definitely the way to go. |
