I expect he has a complete motor control on the front of the saw, but he's never shown us a picture of that. Unless I'm missing something. What we've seen so far is the disconnect on the back of the saw

All of this makes my head spin. If I were the OP, I'd just buy a 3hp single phase motor, that's plenty of power. And it will aid in resale. Griz sells motors for reasonable prices,if the frame will fit a PM.

That's not a bad price, but he would also need a motor control of some type. Either modify what he has, if he has anything (haven't seen a pic of the control - just the disconnect) for voltage* and current (new heaters), or replace with another magnetic control with O/L capability. A new IEC type is about $100 from Grizzly, among other places.

*Most industrial motors are run on 208V or 480V supplies - 240V is less common. If it's a LV control, there may be taps on the transformer for different supply voltages. If it's line-voltage, the coil would have to be changed if it's not 240V.

I my area 240v 3 phase 3 wire is very common on industrial users also 3 phase 3 wire and 4wire 480 V. We did not furnish 120/240v 3 phase 4 wire delta. 120/208 was used a lot on small commercial and retail stores and large apartment complexes. So check the name plates as to what is required. Roly

Well life got in the way but I am back to getting this saw working.
To save people the trouble of reading this full thread...
I purchased a Powermatic 66 that has some unusual electronics attached to it. With the help of this forum I realized that all of it was unnecessary for my usage. In the process of coming to this conclusion I realized the motor was a 5hp 3phase unit and the electrical in my shop is single phase only.
Following everyone's advice I contacted Factory Mation about a VFD. Sadly, the VFD they recommended the following...

Well at $ 550.00 plus tax and shipping and then the cost of an electrician to install....

Now for the help needed...
I removed all the unnecessary electrical and need help wiring up the new motor.

Those are the wires coming new motor. I need a harness that will go from the motor to the box...

Is there a connection diagram on a label next to the connection box you have opened ? It looks like a corner of it in a picture. If so post a picture of it. Roly
Verify T1 is blue, T4 is yellow, T5 is black, T5 is red, and the brown lead is P1 or P2. Go with numbers if different.
Line 1 connect brown wire
Line 2 connect yellow wire T4 and depending on needed rotation connect the black wire T5 or the red wire T8 to it.
Just connect the two remaining wires together. (either T1 & T8 or T1 & T5 together)
Between the motor and starter just need L1 & L2 and a ground. If the existing wire shown is heavy enough connect the black to L1 & the red to L2 at the motor and where the existing wires are on the starter. The line cord connects where the existing one is.
One concern is if the starter is set for the amperage of the motor now that it is single phase as it will draw more amperage than a 3 phase motor along with the existing cords .

According to label connect wires marked 1&8 to line 1 and connect wire marked 4 to line 2 and connect wires J & 5 together and nothing else. This is for standard rotation if that is what you need . Roly
