I've seen a couple in the wild. I believe, but I may be wrong, that Sargent made the Craftsman 45 style plane. Not sure how well a Sargent performs against an old Stanley

I have a couple of these ... and a couple of the Craftsman ...same plane.

The blades are notched different than the Stanley but they work equally well.

I, too, have a shelf of them. It is as close a copy one can make and not get sued. One big difference is the cutter adjusting mech--not better, just different. The handle is more comfortable than the #45. In use, I found them to be almost the same. Not a bad deal if you find one with lots of cutters at a good price. The one mentioned was in great condition but price seemed a tad high--maybe 2x high.

aka:  Sargent No. 1080

Irons are notched differently, as is the way the plane holds and adjusts them....nickers are different, as well.    I am not sure IF Millers Falls ever made one.....doubt it.
