How do you protect chisel edges? - JSpill - 11-04-2017

I've got about 20 chisels hanging on pegboard waiting to be knocked onto a concrete floor so their sharp edges can be chipped. Almost all of them have lost their edge guard. If you had some chisels without edge protectors what would you do to avoid the upcoming calamity I just described? There are two solutions I'm thinking about.
1) Buy edge guards online in sets of ten.
2) Buy some dipping plastic (Plasti-Dip) and see if that works.
All ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

IMO it is better to store them so that getting knocked off a pegboard is not inevitable. Just my opinion. I keep mine in a drawer of a home built tool chest.

This tray moves about the shop and, when not needed, stores in a drawer.  I suppose it could just as easily hang on a wall if it were sloped back 20 degrees or so.

I just make a sheath to fit out of cardboard and duct tape. Toss them in a tool bag, no problem.

I'm with ohiomike. Put them in a box. Bring the box out or put it away.

Quick and dirty way is to get a old piece of garden hose, cut it up into short pieces, cut a short slit in one side the width of the chisel, and push the chisel into the slit until it stops against the other side of the hose.

Not the prettiest but it will protect the chisel and not cost anything.
