Gage / Rescue ! - C. in Indy - 11-18-2017 A job for John Gage ?! [attachment=5782] I passed by this old gage in the antique mall for at least a year, then finally took it off their hands. It cleaned up very nice, but there were missing parts, and the brass thumbscrew was in a 'neither here nor there' state of engagement: [attachment=5783] Today I made up some new parts..... A couple of sizes of trial wood plugs from olivewood, a beech wedge, and a cutting blade made from spring-steel stock: [attachment=5784] One of the wood plugs set up nicely as a pad between the brass screw and the wood beam: [attachment=5785] Putting it all together, not a bad Cutting gage at all! [attachment=5786] Happy woodworking! Chris RE: Gage / Rescue ! - iclark - 11-18-2017 Nicely done. Thanks for the walk-through.
