Beeswax alternative for cutting board - Bill Wilson - 12-04-2017

I'm making some cutting boards for Christmas presents.  I typically just use Mineral Oil as a finish, but wanted to try an oil/wax blend, as is often recommended on this forum.  I know beeswax is the preferred wax, but is there an alternative?  Does regular old paraffin wax or canning wax work just as well?  I'm looking to find something locally and haven't had any luck finding beeswax.

Thanks

I buy it from Amazon.com.  It comes looking like little ball bearings.

Cheap enough and two day shipments.  The pellets dissolve more easily than blocks.

I use canning wax, which is paraffin.

They beat me to it: the canning wax will work just fine.

Yes. Paraffin wax. $4.00 a box at Walmart.
