Seam Ripper - George Wells - 08-15-2018
My dear wife wants me to turn her a seam ripper. Can any of you folks tell me who makes the best, most durable seam ripper kit. I have seen several different kinds but I don't know which one will hold up the best.
Whats your opinion?

My mom said that the Clover ripper was the best. I would just buy one and take it apart for the blade.

I bought a pack of 5 that had small handles (about the diameter of a pencil) then I turned larger handles and epoxied the existing handles into the wood ones. they were very popular.

Here are some options to do. You can make a seam ripper (Gold or Chrome) and a stiletto (Gold or Chrome) on the other end.

We make a lot of seam rippers, using mostly Dritz style ones.
We drill a 10mm hole about a half-inch into the handle (that's the diameter of the clear handle) then drill a 1/4 inch hole inside that deep enough to hold the cutter.
Turn the handle
Then cut the tip off the cap, leaving about a half inch of the base. This gets glued into the handle, cut end first.
This way way the blade can be replaced and the wood handle reused.
We never use the PSI ones as the cutters are only available from PSI
