Start of some much needed clean-up of things that aren't getting the use they deserve:  First up, a Knight Toolworks smoother with a 55 degree bed angle. As much as I like the way a well-made wood soled plane feels against the board, and as great as the 55* angle of this is for figured woods, the body has always been too wide for my small hands and just doesn't get used. Recommended for someone who takes at least a medium size glove. This one is purpleheart for the body, and was one that Steve assembled himself (not a kit). Great thick iron. Picked it up after it has been sitting for many years, and cleaned up the edge of a birdseye maple short. Worked fine and left a great finish, but could use some honing and the wedge might need a little attention (it seated slightly askew). $75 plus shipping. IMG_3240  on Flickr Full Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmiMuLmy Next: Stanley #5, type 14 (IIRC I got this from Clint "Leonard Bailey" Jones back in the day, described as a type 13 but one patent date and a raised ring under the knob says type 14 to me). Still has part of the label on the tote, has been tuned and cuts great, sole is flat, rosewood has particularly appealing grain (at least to my eye). Apologies: some japanning missing, well-repaired crack in the tote, blade has a slight camber (how I liked it) and could use some honing. $40 plus shipping.
