Lathe Stead Rest on a CNC - handi - 12-22-2018

Not sure if this should go here since it is a CNC project, or in the Turning forum since it is for the lathe.

I have free .dxf files to make steady rests for several common sizes of lathes. There is a video as well showing how I built two for my shop lathes.

Did you submit the plans to Vectric? Bet a lot of people would download them.

Suggestion from a long time turner: Double up the “c”arm, it needs the extra thickness. Just mill two and glue together.

No reason you can't, just need longer bolts. Great tip.

But I have been using the larger one for at least two years now and have no issues with vibration.
