RE: Idea of a Project - bandit571 - 03-03-2019 Was informed last night that Lowes was still open, until 9pm.....drove down there and bought a 1/4" x 24" x 48" panel, a box of screws, and a quart of stain. ..and almost hit a deer on the way back home.... Got the clamps off the drawer...was having issues with getting the drawer to close all the way....went ahead and sanded it down, and installed the handles....it will close to the last 2", then get stuck.. ..may try to fix that later..... Uncle Charlie ( Horse) gave me a rude wake up call this morning.. ..from right hip to the knee...one big cramp...made it rough to walk the 30' to go pee. ..may have overdone things, yesterday? Will see how the rest of today goes....stay tuned RE: Idea of a Project - Stwood_ - 03-03-2019 (03-03-2019, 08:54 AM)bandit571 Wrote: Uncle Charlie ( Horse) gave me a rude wake up call this morning.. Try some pickle juice when that happens. I've just started to try it. Have juice on standby, and no cramps since I've spent money on a supply of juice. RE: Idea of a Project - bandit571 - 03-03-2019 So... a hit and miss sort of day, today....last two drawers were assembled...waited for the glue to dry...added the handles...sanded things a bit...cleared off the top of the case.. So...how about a PIP? haven't applied a finish yet, waiting on the dust to settle... [attachment=17056] Lots of coves...may have to go back and add a bit more light to this one... [attachment=17057] View of the front....handles are a Brushed Nickel... [attachment=17058] Corner view....and.. [attachment=17059] Maybe someday, I'll get the hang of doing dovetails? a "Puritan Pine" stain will be used...even found a couple brushes tonight..will post when the finish is on? Stay tuned.. RE: Idea of a Project - BpB123 - 03-04-2019 Just a quick note of thanks and encouragement. I really enjoy your build-alongs and appreciate you sharing your skills with us thanks! Brian RE: Idea of a Project - bandit571 - 03-05-2019 Was having a lot of issues between some of the plywood panels, and the stain... [attachment=17110] Yes, there was stain applied....5 minutes later..stain disappears? The pine was great.. [attachment=17111] But there was something wrong with that one sheet of plywood.. [attachment=17112] Three on the left side...two on the right side...and the back of the case...wasn't really concerned about the back...after the 4th try, and a wash coat of poly, then a 5th try... in which I added a drizzle of Walnut stain to the Puritan Pine stain.... [attachment=17113] And then a coat of clear gloss poly over the entire "mess" I think I have the left side fixed, as well as the right side.. [attachment=17115] Top is looking a bit better? [attachment=17116] may just call this one "Done"? [attachment=17117] Waiting on the poly to dry....before this come upstairs... thanks for following along... RE: Idea of a Project - stav - 03-06-2019 That must have been frustrating to see the stain disappear like that. You handled it well though and the end product looks great. Nice walk through. I've heard that gulping apple vinegar daily is healthy. RE: Idea of a Project - bandit571 - 03-06-2019 I just drink a cold glass of milk, and walk off the cramps.... I buy the 80oz and also gallon jars of dill pickles so have lots of juice. You can also now buy straight pickle juice, marketed as a kind of sports drink. |
