Running Table Saw on 14 Gauge wire - Cecil - 02-23-2019
I checked the wire gauge going to the receptacles, I checked the breaker. The wire is 12 gauge and the breaker is 20 amp. I have been running my table saw. I have been adding a second 20 amp circuit. I have been putting in 2 gang boxes with circuit A on the left and B on the right. I have also been doubling the number of boxes. Today I get to the final box, the one with the GFCI outlet. There is 12 gauge from the circuit breaker to the outlet, but 14 gauge from this outlet to the next.

How about the one that there is no wire in the wall behind the main light switch in the bathroom......
Yea. She swore up and down the light used to work with that switch.

The garage is open to the studs, so it is easy to pull one wire and run another, with the exception of the fire resistant wall, where the garage meets the house. Guess which wire I need to replace! Yep, the one going through the fire resistant wall. I am going to leave it for now. It has not heated up enough to catch fire yet. As long as I am aware of it, and use the new circuit for power equipment, I will be OK for a few weeks. I should get back to it in 6-8 weeks.

I knew the switch went to something... just couldn't find it.
After 13 years in our house, I figured out that switch goes to 2 outlets on the west side of our house.
