Anyone know much about a "Yuba shopsmith radial arm saw"? - Wild Turkey - 03-17-2019
There's one for sale locally and an excellent price and I'm thinking of getting one for dado work.
Anyone know how good they are?

From what I can see online, I'm not terribly impressed either. Looks like one of the old Wards Powercraft saws, the adjustment of square to the table crosscut reminds me of the old sears saws. And I wasn't impressed with that saw either. It seems to use some sort of conical plug to lock the arm at 90, which if it worked like the sears version, didn't stay locked very long.
The one neat feature it did have was an offset arbor that let you get more depth of cut with what was then the big "9" homeowner blade. They combined that with a variable speed system, hey they built the shopsmith after all. Used what looked like an aluminum arm, again not that impressive compared to the cast iron Dewalts and Deltas. A typical for the time big box RAS marketed to do anything and everything.

Straight edge and a router---go ahead and use clamps.
