Gluing cardboard to wood - Jxarchive - 08-12-2019

I'm repairing a 45 record boxes probably from the 1970s. The bottom has opened up in the back. My used record store owner recalls someone years ago who used to replace the bottoms with wood. So I'm wondering if glue will attach to either 1/4 (or so) plywood or wood and the cardboard substance of the sides. The current bottom is underneath the sides. I think I'd insert the new bottom, so it attaches to the walls of the case. This happens to be a double box, so strength is an even more of a necessity. The walls are close to 3/8, so they have some stability. Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
Joe

Glue will adhere—you could use Weldwood contact cement.
The question is—where will the structural support come from?

Just use spray adhesive.
