paint remover - p_leyden - 10-27-2019

does anyone here have recommendations for paint removers. I recently used kleen strip and was very unhappy with the results, or lack of same.
The stripping action was notable for the non existence of any results at all. I realize that methelyne chloride, so effective in the past, is no longer available.
What are you using that is effective and relatively fast in action?
Thanks for your comments and recommendations!

Whether you can find methylene chloride strippers may depend a lot on your location. The smaller hardware stores (some of them) around me still have it, though it does seem to have disappeared from the big box stores.

I've had better luck with the strippers that are currently available by applying the stripper and immediately covering with plastic wrap to slow down evaporation.  It can be messy but it works for me.

You didn't say which Klean Strip product you used, but KS Premium, which contains MC, has always worked great for me.  It's still available at my local ACE Hardware, too, at least for a couple more months.  I believe the ruling required that sales end 6 months hence, which is sometime near the end of the year.  If you did indeed use KS Premium then you either didn't follow the directions or the finish you are removing is one really tough product.
